AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Pakistan’s paramilitary forces claimed that it has seized diammonium phosphate fertilizer, the main explosive used in Taliban bombs, at Torkham—Khyber Agency.
Pakistani media reported that 375 bags of diammonium phosphate (DAP) were recovered from a loaded truck during a search at Torkham—Khyber Agency.
The truck driver belonging to Nangarhar province was carrying cement to Afghanistan. The cements bags were full of DAP.
The driver was taken into custody and sent to the Landi Kotal jail for further investigation.
The former president Hamid Karzai had banned fertilizers use in Afghanistan because Taliban insurgents used it in homemade bombs, which are most often planted along roads and are a leading killer of civilians and troops in Afghanistan.
DAP and the ammonium nitrate is used as the explosive component and manufactured at two plants in Pakistan. The manufacturer has resisted efforts to control the flow into Afghanistan.
