By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The new head for land transportation during taking oath of office on Wednesday said that fighting corruption and modernization of transportation system would be on top of his work plans.
“In order to increase the land transportation incomes and grant the people with more facilities, I will seriously fight corruption and will modernize the system of transportation in the country,” Farid Sherzai said.
He said that creating a transport system for women and construction of terminals would be other matters he would focus on.
Deputy transport and civil aviation minister Jarullah Mansoori emphasized the reforms should be brought in the land transport department, adding that “the ministry established a draft of reforms operation to be implemented in department.”
The draft included collection of incomes, building of terminals, computerizing the system in land transport department, installing digital gates in Kabul and provinces, revising the law and regulation of transportation to meet current demands, Mansoori added.
Ahmad Shah Ramazan, representative of people in Wolsi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament urged the new head of land transport to take serious steps against corruption in this department.
