KABUL: First ever cancer diagnostic center has inaugurated in Kabul on Saturday, health official said. The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in a statement said the first ever cancer diagnostic laboratory was established with modern equipment’s by MoPH with financial support of World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nation Development Program (UNDP).
MoHP’s Minister Ferozudin Feroz termed establishing of cancer diagnostic center a vital step in the aspect cancer diseases.
He said establishing of such diagnostic center was long dream for his ministry that finally succeeded to build such laboratory and help compatriots to have access to cancer diagnostic facilities inside the country, instead of traveling abroad with high expenses.
“Establishing of diagnostic laboratories will play key role in diagnostic of diseases and currently Afghanistan as neighboring countries have the capacity to diagnose 23 kinds of illnesses,” he added.
Pointing to tuberculoses disease, he said that before it was difficult to be diagnosed, but now this disease can be diagnosed simply in capital and different provinces.
The MoPH is struggling to manage and standardize the private sector laboratories across the country, he added
MoPH has reconstructed and equipped 43 laboratories as well as trained 650 persons to boost up healthcare facilities across the country, underlined the statement.
