AT News Report-KABUL: All five on board a military helicopter embraced martyrdom after the chopper crash landed in western Farah province on Friday night, said officials.
An army helicopter en route from western Herat province made an emergency landing in a desert in Renj area of Khak-e Safid district in Farah province.
“All five on board including two shooters and two pilots embraced martyrdom after the explosives in the chopper detonated as a result of the crash,” said Farah Governor Spokesman Neser Mehri.
He said that the copter had taken off from Herat for Farah and faced technical failure and made emergency landing in Khak-e-Safid district.
After emergency land the chopper caught fire and leads to explosion of ammunition was loaded inside the helicopter, he added.
He rejected the reports that the Taliban shot the helicopter down after emergency landing.
Ministry of Defense Spokesman Mohammad Radmanesh confirmed the chopper crash and the death of five army personnel. He brushed off reports that the aircraft was brought down by insurgents.
