AT-KABUL: At least five militants have been killed, and two others received injuries in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, security official said on Monday.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Paktia, Kandahar, Urzgan, Zabul, Faryab, Takhar, Nimroz and Helmand provinces, in which five insurgents were killed, and two others wounded.
Moreover, one suspects detained during operation, handing him over related judicial organs for further inquiry. The Afghan security forces were also backed by airstrike.
During these operations, three Taliban fighters were killed and two other wounded in Shahwalikot district of Kandahar province.
Furthermore, two insurgents were killed in Arghandab district of Zabul province. In addition to that three motorbikes belonging to the Taliban insurgents were also destroyed.
Similar, two ammunition caches belonged to Haqqani Terrorist Network discovered and seized in Ahmad Khil district of Paktia province. According to the statement, one suspect was arrested in Tagab district of Kapisa province.
In past 24 hours, 11 planed clearing operations, 21 Special Forces operations conducted in eight provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 33 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered, and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well, the statement added.
