Kabul: The Afghanistan Journalists Center recently announced the recipients of the prestigious “Afghan Journalist of the Year” award during a ceremony held in Brussels. These awards recognize journalists who have conducted impactful and professional interviews throughout the year 1402 in the solar calendar.
From a pool of competitive candidates, the jury selected five outstanding journalists from three media outlets. Mitra Majidi, Faridullah Mohammadi, Nasir Ahmad Salehi, Mohammad Taher Ahmadi, and Mohammad Amin Kaveh were jointly awarded the esteemed “Journalist of the Year” prize for their exceptional contributions. These journalists represent Tolonews, Rukhshana Media, and the Hasht-e-Subh Newspaper, earning them the title of Afghan Journalist of the Year.
The ceremony for the Best Afghan Journalist award was held both in-person in Brussels and online on April 5th, running from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM Kabul time. Notable attendees included Afghan journalists, media representatives, and international organizations dedicated to supporting journalistic endeavors. Additionally, numerous journalists and media freedom advocates from Afghanistan and various countries worldwide participated virtually.
Faisal Karimi, a jury member for the program, highlighted the extensive participation from journalists across Afghanistan, with over 50 national and local media outlets, as well as international media focusing on Afghanistan, nominating their reports and media works for consideration for the Journalist of the Year award.
