KABUL: The National Statistics and Information Authority announced of distribution of five million electronic ID cards in the next Persian Year (March 21, 2021 to March 19, 2022).
Ahmad Javed Rasouli, head of the department, told senators in Meshrano Jirga’s Monday session that they had already distributed 1.7 million electronic ID cards across the country.
Mr. Rasouli said that 70 distribution centers had been established in Afghanistan and Iran, adding that the capacity would increase.
He said that they have the capacity to process more than 16,000 electronic ID cards in a single day and would distribute five million ID cards to the people next year.
According to Rasouli, the department started the distribution of electronic ID cards to Afghan refugees settled in Iran on November 3 and thousands of refugees have received ID cards.
“We plan to establish electronic ID centers to the Afghan refugees residing in other neighboring countries,” he said.
