AT-KABUL: As many as 80 houses were destroyed, hundreds acres of agricultural land was damaged and dozens of animals were killed as floods wreck havoc in Shuhada district of Badakhshan province, said official.
Deputy Governor of Badakhshan, Gul Mohammad Bidar, on Wednesday told media that as a result of floods, 80 houses were destroyed in Yunek village of Shuhada district.
He said that no casualty was reported though the natural disaster was not of minor scale. He said the floods demolished the houses completely in the area.
The displaced people are looking desperately towards humanitarian assistance. They are living in “unsuitable condition” without any resources to protect themselves from scorching heat as mercury goes up, he added.
