Bokhdi News Agency quoted Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, the deputy governor of Ghani, as saying that Gulistani was on the way to her house when she was attacked by a gunman in al-Bironi Township area of Ghazni city on Saturday afternoon. He said the man was riding a motorbike.
The deputy governor said the former provincial council member was in good health condition.
No militant group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Ahmadi also said that the gunman escaped after attack on Gulistani.
According to him, police has started search to arrest the attacker.
In the meantime, Bokhdi News Agency quoted Arif Rahmani, a lawmaker from Ghazni, as saying that terrorists and enemies of Afghan people are behind the attack. He expressed concern over security situation in Ghazni, and said that no active and influential individual is safe in the province.
It is said that Hamida Gulistani, the former member of Ghazni provincial council is one of main criticizers of Musa Khan Akbarzada, the acting governor of Ghazni, particularly when the issue of Akbarzada’s hand in a rocket attack was leaked through media.
Gulistani after the rocket attack once told the acting governor of Ghazni that Akbarzada should have directed the Taliban to fire the rockets on governor’s office, not civilians’ houses.
According to reports, Gulistani’s name is among one of active women in Ghazni who has struggled for defending women and human rights in the province.
This attack was the second attempt to kill Gulistani. She was recently attacked by a number of unknown armed men in the province which left her driver dead but she escaped the attack unhurt.
