AT-KABUL: Unidentified gunmen opened fire in a congested road in North Kabul, killing a former senator and his driver on Sunday, said officials.
An spokesperson of the Kabul police, Basir Mujahid, told Afghanistan Times that unknown armed men killed former senator Gul Afghan along with his driver, when they were commuting in a crowded street in northern Kabul at 6:10 pm.
The assaulting gunmen riding a corolla vehicle absconded the scene right after the shooting, he said, adding that the police had started thorough investigations to find the perpetrators.
Senator Gul Afghan had affiliation with Jamiat-e-Islami Party.
