AT-KABUL: Four people were killed and 10 others received injuries in a car suicide bombing at the entry gate of Afghan Local Police (ALP) academy in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, an official said.
“Three Afghan Local Police (ALP) and a civilian were killed and ten other received injures after a suicide car bomber detonated his explosives at the gate of ALP training academy in Nad Ali district of the Helmand province on Saturday,” Haji Karim Atal, the chief of provincial council told Afghanistan Times.
“There is a boy school at the back side of the academy, where as result of the explosion three school children were also wounded in the attack,” he said.
“Policemen standing guard at the first gate allowed the suicide bomber to pass. They mistook the bomber as a trainer who was driving a Corolla model vehicle. The bomber was looking a trainer,” he said, adding, “When the bomber reached the second gate, local police stopped him for identity confirmation, where the bomber detonated his explosive.”
Provincial public health officials confirmed that they have received ten wounded people. Their condition was stated as stable.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, claimed responsibility of the attack and said that tens of ALP personnel were wounded and killed in the attack.
