AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that the cordial ties between Afghanistan and Pakistan would lead to prosperity of Pashtuns straddling on both sides of the Durand Line.
Talking to a gathering in Bunir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, Sherpao said that friendly ties between Kabul and Islamabad were need of the hour.
He said that recent trip of Pashtun nationalist leaders to Kabul helped in improving strained relations between the two countries. “Pashtun nationalist leaders convinced President Ashraf Ghani to meet with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Paris,” he added.
He said that Pashtuns are the main victims of the prolonged war in the region. He urged the two countries to put their mistrusts aside and work for restoration of peace.
Sherpao hoped that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would bring economic prosperity to war-affected areas of Pashtuns living on the other side of Durand Line.
He stressed that the QWP would not compromise on the rights of Pashtuns and would resist against any changes to Kashgar-Gwadar trade route.
