AT-KABUL: The Federal Republic of Germany donated 5.3 million Euros to the Afghan government for the improvement of water sector in three provinces.
An agreement was signed between Abdul Sattar Murad, Minister of Economy and Hanns Brend Kuchta, Germany’s GIZ Program Director.
“The reform program for water was one of the important schemes of Germany in Afghanistan began in 2014 and will continue up to 2017,” Murad said.
“This is the third round of cooperation by Germany which provides financial and technical support for improvement of drinkable water storage in the country.”
He remarked that the amount would be spent in strengthening of urban water storage, planning, water management and improving of water quality in Kabul, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Balkh provinces.
Germany had earlier allocated 204 million Euros for water sector in Afghanistan through which thousands of people have been benefited.
“Maintain drinkable water and energy is the top priority of Germany to assist Afghan people in this area,” said the GIZ program director Hanns Brend Kuchta.
