KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met on Saturday the former Vice President Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum and discussed the worsening security situation in the country.
Following escalation of conflict and violence in different parts of the country particularly in northern provinces recently, Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum returned from Turkey and met with President Ghani.
According to a statement issued by the Presidential Palace, Ghani met with the former vice president and discussed the country’s security situation, particularly the situation in the north.
Statement said that while announcing support from Afghan National Defense and Security forces, Marshal Dostum said that “we will defend strictly from our people and territory.”
He said that the time has come to struggle alongside the security forces for betterment of the security situation and stand firm against the enemy.
It is pertained to mention that Marshal Dostum went to Turkey for medical treatment, but returned back following ramp up violence and conflict in different parts of the country, particularly northern provinces.
