KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani has agreed to grant extraordinary privileges to Atta Noor, one of his hard-line critics in the past.
The National Security Council asked in a letter for 150 bodyguards and 460 different types of arms for Atta’s security, which was agreed by the president, KabulNews reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, members of parliament blamed Ghani for the grating, saying his political goals are behind the privileges, while Atta’s allies believe he has the right of privileges as a political leader.
Neither the president’s office nor the National Security Council were available to comment.
Atta was a tough critic to Ghani when he was governor for Balkh province, threatening to mobilize people against the president in 2017 after the president decided to fire him.
Now, Atta is a strong supporter to Ghani.
