AT-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani has reiterated his call on the nation to help ensure fair and transparent elections which, he described, will per se strengthen democracy in the country.
In a meet with relatives of victims of a terrorist attack on a mosque in Yaqubi district, the president said those killed didn’t die in vain and were the martyrs of democracy. Ghani also talked to family members of a BCC reporter who was recently killed in Khost province.
The president argued that attacks on voter registration centers were tantamount to sabotaging the future of the nation.
He went on to say, “Electionsare the difference between and past regimes. The Afghans do not like to be ruled at force, so elections are the only option”.
