AT-KABUL: Tribal elders and religious scholars from southern Ghazni province called on Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah and briefed him on the problems in their province.
The CEO’s media office said in a statement on Sunday that the elders also warned that if the government did not pay due attention to the province, some districts of the province might collapse to the Taliban.
Despite many other demands, they also asked the government to accelerate efforts to reopen the closed schools in the restive areas of the province.
Improved security, balanced staff in the governmental departments and extended support to the uprising in Andar district against insurgents were other demands of the elders.
“Government must support and assist family members of those who were killed and wounded,” they demanded.
“Andar, Giro, Maqur and some other districts of the province likely to collapse to the Taliban hand if the government remains silent and don’t pay attention to the province,” the elders warned.
After hearing their demands and problems, Abdullah assured them of full support to resolve their problems. “It is the priority of the National Unity Government to address problems faced by public,” he said. Moreover he vowed to take actions in a bid to bring balance amongst provincial government staffers.
He assured Ghazni elders that he would talk with President on the issue. He said that their problems would be resolved after consultations with the President.
