KABUL: Deputy of the high council for national reconciliation, Enayatullah Babur Farahmand accused the government of trying to harm the “merely peace” in the northern province of Faryab.
He said that the government launched “a cold war in north of Afghanistan.”
“There are some bad news from Faryab province that the officials in ARG (president palace) ordered some implementation to transfer Mohammad Daud Laghmani, the new appointed governor to (Faryab), this will harm the merely calmness of the people in Faryab,” he added.
He emphasized that the residents would not halt their protests and demonstrations regarding the appointment of new governor.
“Ignoring people’s wishes in such an important situation and the appointment of useless individual as the governor is in contrast with the principles of democracy,” he added.
Earlier, the government replaced Naqibullah Fayeq with Mohammad Daud Laghmani as the new governor of Faryab.
The Hezb-e- Junbish- Mili, a political party led by Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum criticized the appointment of Daud Laghmani as governor for Faryab. To prevail the criticism, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani appointed Fayeq as appointed- senator and granted with a medal.
Head of Independent Director of Local Governance earlier said that the new governor would begin working in the near future.
Meanwhile, a helicopter carrying the newly appointed governor of Laghmani, was not allowed to land in Faryab, sources said, adding that the chopper returned to Balkh province.
