AT-KABUL: The government has accepted political parties’ monitoring the parliamentary election, after several demands by the parties regarding their monitoring representatives, use of biometric in the election and change in the electoral system. But it is yet to comment on the election system.

The Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan, an alliance formed of joining several government’s opposition parties, say they welcome the government’s move over monitoring, but emphasize that government should clarify over the biometric system as soon as possible.

The members of the grand coalition said Monday that they would stop their civil moves after the government agreed with their demand over monitoring of the election, but still insist on the rest of their demands.

They added that both the government and the independent election commission had to accept their “logical” demands over the change of electoral system from SNTV to MDR.

The grand coalition members also said they would stop civil moves until the rest of their demands were accepted, but warned they would prevent any measure that would cause “illegal parliament and government”.

The coalition members say they still wouldn’t believe the biometric system would be implemented in the October 20th legislative election.
