AT-KABUL: Governors of Herat, Bamiyan, Parwan, Daikundi, Nimroz and Kapisa urged the central government to implement infrastructural projects, put end to mounting insecurity and improve education in the provinces.
The governors on Saturday in a session in Kabul said that the central government nodded to some of their demands. However, they stressed on improvement of education and Afghan Local Police (ALP).
Muhammad Asef Rahimi, the governor of Herat province, said that security forces were conducting their clearance operations successfully; however, local police force should be improved in order to prevent influx of militants to the cleared areas.
The governors said that insecurity in some districts have led to closure of schools. They said that efforts are underway to reopen the schools.
Masuma Muradi, the governor of Daikundi, said that they are also faced with numerous problems in education sector. “We should have 365 schools in Daikundi, but there are around 80 to 90 schools in the province,” she added.
