AT-KABUL: Sources in the Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan, an alliance made up of some political parties with differences ideologies to pose an opposition of the government, said that the government had accepted parts of their suggestions over the election, but still big and important parts were left unsolved.
The sources said Tuesday that President Ashraf Ghani had met with the leaders of the opposition parties and vowed to give some parliament seats to them.
The political parties have in exchange promised they would stop violent moves against the government.
But representatives of Hezb-e-Islami, Jonbesh-e-Melli and Jamiat have rejected any demands regarding parliament seats.
They emphasize that the biometric system, political parties’ monitoring from the election, brining changes in electoral system and giving parts of the parliament to the parties were their basic demands that were not accepted by the government.
Meanwhile, the government plans to appoint Mullah Tarakhil and Ziaulhaq Amarkhil, the two candidates failed to go to the final list as senators, but they have rejected the reports.
The political parties had earlier threatened to boycott the October legislative election if the government did not meet their demands.
