AT-KABUL: The government has developed the first-ever master plan for the natural gas and its exploitation.
Mines and petroleum minister Daud Shah Saba said called the master plan “very important”, saying it could provide investment and discovery in the gas fields.
“Based on this master plan, we will be able to expand gas industry by 2035,” the minister said Wednesday.
He said that the master plan would be soon presented to the high economic council.
The master plan was made in two years at a cost of nearly two million dollars assisted by the Asian Development Bank and the US and German organizations for international development.
Afghanistan has kept millions of cubic-meters of gas, especially at the Afghan-Tajik and Amu Darya areas in the northern regions.
The master plan would help the exploitation of the 74 million cubic-meter gas in the said areas.
