KABUL: The government has begun discussions over appointing of new electoral commissioners.
The Free and Fair Electoral Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) said Sunday that the new commissioners would be appointed through a consensus between government, presidential candidates and political parties, while they were previously appointed by a selection committee.
Head of the Independent Election Commission said the commissioners were appointed for five years based on the electoral law.
He warned of resistance against those who try to suspend them illegally through a political consensus.
