AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The High Peace Council (HPC) urged warring parties in Afghanistan to accept China’s mediation in peace talks.
Maulvi Shahzada Shahid, spokesman for the HPC, asked the Afghan government and the Taliban to give up fighting and resume peace talks. “China is one of the biggest and impartial countries in the region, thus both parties to the war should accept its mediation,” he added.
He in an interview with Radio Azadi the urged incumbent government and the Taliban leadership to work for survival of the country and come to the negotiation table.
China recently said that it stands ready to mediate in talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
Shahid said that situation might get even worse if the current war with the Taliban further prolonged.
Political experts believe that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) would dismantle the Taliban if they didn’t joined peace talks with the Afghan government.
The Taliban have apparently rejected Beijing’s mediation, however some media reports says that the militant group had sent a delegation to the country.
