By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Ministry of Commerce and Industries with the cooperation of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is running a program to boost up businesswomen’s access to loan facilities across the country.
“In order to foster businesswomen and entrepreneurs’ access to loan facilities with reasonable interest rate, the ministry with the collaboration of the USAID has launched a roundtable program in Kabul,” said deputy commerce minister Abdul Bari Rahman.
“Financial sources are not enough for female entrepreneurs, so, we started to create a link between women and banks to help them run their business by taking loan.”
It will support domestic products for further progress, he added.
Chief Enactive Officer of Afghan Women’s Business Federation Guljan Zemarai complained of the lack of loan facilities and financial sources for businesswomen, saying that women’s trade was declined in the past due to this challenge.
She said that despite pouring million dollars, nobody helped women in the business aspect in the country.
Criticizing high rate of interests over loans in the banks, she suggested that the banks must revise their policies and help businesswomen for further achievement.
She asked the government and other national and international relevant organs to help female traders get access to financial sources.
Public Private Partnership Advisor in Promote Project Najla Habibyar said that banks procedures were complicated, where business women failed to fulfill the requirements to have access to loan facilities.
She said that in today session businesswomen and representative of banks invited to discuss challenges and seek solutions.
