Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: Wolesi Jirga (WJ) or Lower House (LH) of the Parliament decided on Sunday to summon key security officials to appear before the house in order to address its concerns over the steadiest increase in insecurity across the country.
As security situation in various parts of the country worsens, Abdul Hai Aakhundzada, member of Internal Security Committee of the Parliament told newsmen that lawmakers have decided to summon security officials as well as Interior Minister, Noorul Haq Ulomi to the WJ for explanation over escalating insecurity across the country.
Keramudeen Rezazadah, a member of the parliament from Ghor, said that key security officials including Ulomi—the Interior Minister would be summoned to the WJ for explanation. He alleged Ulomi for dereliction.
He furthered that summoning security officials doesn’t mean to sack them from their position.
“Legal procedure would be taken if their answers were not acceptable for the lawmakers,” he added.
Responding to a query, Rezazadah said no signatures have been collected from MPs over summoning security officials, but growing insecurity has caused lawmakers to summon them.
It is worth mentioning the UN recently reported that the Islamic State (IS) group is making inroads in Afghanistan, wining over a growing number of sympathizers and recruiting followers in 25 of the country’s 34 provinces.
Based on report, IS which controls large areas of Syria and Iraq, has been trying to establish itself in Afghanistan. They also attacked Afghan security forces in Nangarhar province that left three forces dead and six others were wounded.
