AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Unknown gunmen have gunned down the education director for Andar district of southern Ghazni province, an official in the volatile province said on Wednesday.
The provincial education department head, Mohammad Abid Abid, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taza Gul Nangyalai was gunned down early on Wednesday morning by unknown attackers. He said the district education director came under attack when he was on his way to a mosque for Fajr prayers.
Former President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the killing of Nangyalai, and termed it an act of the enemies of education and development of Afghanistan.
The former president said that sincere and matchless efforts of Nangyalai to educate his people and the nation would always be remembered. He termed killing of Nangyalai a setback for the education sector as well as the nation.
“May Allah grant Nangyalai the highest grade in paradise and give his family the strength to bear this great loss with patience,” Karzai prayed.
