Kabul: Former President Hamid Karzai in an interview with DW said his daughter is graduating from 6th grade but looking at the current situation, she will not be able to continue her education.
Hamid Karzai said that his daughters are studying in Kabul and his eldest, Malala, who is now 10 years old, is graduating from class six into seven, he said as things stand now, that means she will not be able to continue her education.
He also said that we shouldn’t leave the country for it is our home and fight for the rights of our children or of our daughters to educate.
He also called on Taliban to let the girl’s education free. “They must allow girls to go to school. There is no compromise there. And I’ve told them this very clearly. There is no compromise here, no way that we will allow Afghan girls being denied of education, no way” he said.
He hoped that women in Afghanistan can have their right and enjoy freedom of work and education, “Afghan women will educate. They will go to school. They will be engineers and doctors and journalists and in parliament and do well. The time will come” Karzai says.
