Kabul: The Afghanistan Meteorological Department has warned of the possibility of heavy rain and snow on Wednesday and Thursday in 27 provinces of the country.
As of Feb. 7, the Afghanistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for heavy rainfall and snowfall across parts of Badakhshan, Badghis, Baghlan, Balkh, Bamyan, Daykundi, Faryab, Ghazni, Ghor, Herat, Jowzjan, Kabul, Kapisa, Khost, Kunar, Kunduz, Laghman, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Paktia, Panjshir, Parwan, Samangan, Sar-e-Pol, Takhar, and Wardak provinces Feb. 8-9. Rainfall totals of 1.5-4 cm (0.6-1.6 inches) are forecast across parts of the affected area and snowfall accumulations of 15-50 cm (6-20 inches) are possible predominantly over higher ground.
This is despite the fact that some provinces of Afghanistan have witnessed rain and snow in the last two days.
It should be noted that at least 170 people have died in the country due to cold weather, floods and gas poisoning in less than a month.
