AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The leader of Hezb-e-Islami, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has expressed concerns over the arrest of several party members by security organs, Khaama Press reported.
Hekmatyar disclosed the news regarding the arrest of his party’s members during a meeting with the tribal elders of southeastern Paktia province.
He said some specific channels have started crackdown of some among the Hezb-e-Islami members during the recent days but the party has decided to continuous the practice restraint.
However, he did not made public further details regarding the main objective behind the apprehension of the party’s members that where and why they have been arrested.
Hekmatyar’s comments come after a group of the loyalists of the former Hezb-e-Islami commander Bashir Qanit opened fire at the people busy in Friday prayers, killing and wounding a number of worshippers in Takhar province.
The party condemned the attack and urged the government institutions to share the findings of their probe regarding the incident.
The statement further added that the incident in Cha Aab district mosque occurred during the Friday prayers after the loyalists of commander Bashir Qanit stepped forward to stop the mosque’s prayer leader to speak against the commander.
According to Hezb-e-Islami the prayer leader was speaking against the said commander since long time but the peaceful attempts by his loyalists to stay away him from delivering speech led to armed clashes that left at least three people dead.
