KABUL: A Taliban car bombing targeted a security outpost in western Heart province left three police officers dead, authorities said on Saturday.
Provincial Governor, Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali said that the blast occurred in the Bazarak area of Zindajan district.
The Taliban asserted responsibility for the attack, claiming that five security forces were killed in the incident.
The insurgents separately set attacks on another two checkpoints in the district, Qatali said, adding that the security forces pushed them back. According to him, the security forces didn’t suffer casualties in these attacks.
The Taliban also suffered casualties, he said, without giving the exact figures.
Qatali said that the Taliban attacked Chisht, Awba, Koshk Kohna, Gulran and Zindajan districts of the province over the last two nights.
Herat is an insecure province in the west, where Taliban are strongly active in many parts of the province, many times carrying out attacks on the security force, earlier, residents of the province called on the government to take serious measures for improving security situation in the province.
