HIA blames govt for hindering Hekmatyar’s arrival in Kabul

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) has accused the government for violation the terms and conditions of peace deal and creating obstacles for arrival of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in Kabul.

The Pajhwok Afghan News has quoted a source from HIA, saying “According to the peace deal the government was bound to enforce it within two months but after five months the agreement is yet to be implemented.

The source revealed that the government should have released HIA prisoners as per soul of the agreement. But strangely more than 70 members of the party have been recently taken by the government into custody.

Moreover, the source added the detained members were arrived to Kabul and other parts of the country, aimed at taking part in celebration of the peace accord.

The source said that HIA has handed over a list of 2,500 detainees and the government was agreed to release them all and facilities including plots and other necessary support would be given to the refugees to be returned from Pakistan and Iran but no progress has been made so far.

However, Ahmad Frozan, spokesperson of the commission, having task of the implementation of the peace deal, said that HIA leaders held regular meetings with the panel members and jointly work on implementation of the accord.

He claimed that the government is committed to its promises and one of the main issues has been resolved by removing Hekmatyar’s name from the UN blacklist.

He added work on the list of HIA detained members is in progress by the judicial organs.

He emphasized on HIA leadership to honor the peace deal and country’s constitution by taking initiative of disarming its fighters and militant wings.

Moreover, he said HIA has submitted a list of refugees and resettlement process is in underway.

President Ashraf Ghani and HIA leader Hekmatyar have signed the landslide peace deal in September last year after many rounds of talks between the two sides.
