IEC urged to bring reforms to ensure vote transparency

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The European Union has asked Afghanistan’s election commissions to take more action and bring more reforms to assure the transparency of the upcoming parliamentary polls, TOLONews reported.

Officials from the Great Coalition of Afghanistan said in a number of province women will not accept to let the election commission employees to record their pictures in the devices therefore,  they said a procedure should be made in this regard.

“A number of our sisters in provinces will not remove their veils to let their pictures be recorded in the devices; therefore, a procedure is needed for this issue,” said Fazl Rahman Oria, member of coalition.

The political parties said they are worried about lack of awareness on the use biometric system.

In response to the remarks, the Independent Election Commission said they have trained 250 employees on use of biometric devices who will train more employees in provinces.
