Kabul: India and Russia held discussions on Wednesday regarding Afghanistan, focusing
on the security situation and humanitarian assistance efforts. Russian special
envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, met with Indian diplomat J P Singh, who
oversees relations with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran, to discuss the current
conditions in Afghanistan.
This meeting occurred ahead of a UN-hosted conference in Doha next month,
aimed at building consensus among stakeholders on how to engage with the
Taliban in Kabul. According to an Indian foreign ministry spokesperson, the
discussions emphasized the importance of providing development assistance for
the welfare of the Afghan people.
Both envoys shared their recent interactions with the Taliban; Singh visited
Afghanistan in March, while Kabulov visited Kabul in April.
