AT kabul: India has expressed appreciation for the decision to “return the properties and lands of Hindus and Sikhs in Afghanistan.” Ranjit Singh, a spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, emphasized the significance of this move as a positive development. Reports indicate that the Afghan administration has set up a commission to facilitate the return of seized properties belonging to these communities. This follows announcements from the Taliban administration in Qatar, signaling a commitment to address injustices against Sikh and Hindu communities. The Ministry of Justice has confirmed the establishment of this commission, which will investigate seized properties across various regions to ensure justice and verify claims. This initiative comes amid the exodus of many Afghan Sikh and Hindu citizens seeking refuge elsewhere following the political reversal in August 2021.
