KABUL – India is set to finalize an agreement with Iran for the operational launch of the Chabahar port.
TK Ramachandran, the Secretary of India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has announced that the State-owned India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL), dedicated to the development and management of Chabahar port in Iran, will soon sign the agreement with the Iranian Port Authority.
This strategic port, located in the Sistan-Balochistan province along Iran’s southern coast, is a collaborative effort between India, Iran, and Afghanistan aimed at enhancing connectivity and trade relations.
Chabahar, situated as an oceanic port close to the Indian Ocean, holds significance for its proximity to the route leading to Afghanistan. The imminent agreement signals a step forward in the full-fledged operation of the port.
