KABUL: Interior Minister Massoud Andarabi calls on Taliban to use the peace opportunity, saying that peace doors are open for them via negotiations.
“The security forces are displaying their power, talent, capacity and disciplines today to tell the enemies that Afghanistan is not going to return to the past,” Andarabi said at a military exhibition held Monday in Kabul’s Darul Aman Palace.
Soldiers and police displayed videos of their operations as well as their uniforms and modern weaponries at the three-day exhibition.
“The peace doors are open for everyone particularly for Taliban to come and talk to us on peace. If they don’t choose peace way, the country’s defense and security forces are fully prepared to defeat them,” said Andarabi.
Acting Defense Minister, Shah Mahmood Miakhil, blamed Taliban for not fulfilling their commitments regarding peace.
He said that Afghan defense and security forces are in defensive position, gave sacrifices and the government released 5,000 Taliban prisoners. “But they did not stop violence.”
Miakhil assured that Afghan army enjoys sources and is ready to defend the country.
Taliban reject government’s allegations, saying they are working for peace through negotiations.
