AT-KABUL: The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on ex-President Hamid Karzai in his office on Tuesday, where the two leaders explored ways to expand bilateral relations.
Hinting at the friendly and brotherly relations enjoyed by the two countries, Hamid Karzai assured that the new president of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani would maintain the relations and would pay all-out efforts to strengthen the ties.
Karzai stressed on expansion of cooperation among regional countries in various areas. He said that regional problems can be only solved through expanded cooperation among regional countries. He added that Iran, China, India and Russia can play vital role in this regard.
Karzai applauded the successful representation of Mr. Zarif from his country in international level.
The Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during his trip to Kabul visited the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah, where they exchanged views on opening a new chapter in Kabul-Tehran relations, after signing of a bilateral security agreement between the two countries. The agreement would be signed in an upcoming trip of President Ghani to Iran.
