AT-KABUL: Weapons made-in Iran have been seized from a house insouthern Ghazni province, and a suspect was detained in regard, securityofficials said Sunday.
Ghazni Police Chief Brig. Gen Ghulam Dawood Tarakhel toldPajhwok Afghan News the weapons were confiscated from a house in the limits of3rd police district of Ghazni City, the provincial capital.
He said the Iranian arms included nine Kalashnikovs, fivepistols, a hand grenade and a large number of bullets. He said owner of thehouse had been arrested.
Wahdatullah, a resident of Ghazni city, told Pajhwok the Taliban hid a lot of weapons inside people’s houses after they attacked Ghazni city. “Police should search all houses,” he said.
Few months ago, a large number of armed rebels stormed Ghazni City, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
This comes as recently US displaced pieces of what it said were Iranian weapons deployed to militants in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon offered a detailed explanation of why it believed the arms on display came from Iran, noting what it said were Iranian corporate logos on arms fragments and the unique nature of the designs of Iranian weaponry.
