AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: As many as 600 Afghans were killed by Daesh insurgents in the past four months in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, said officials on Friday.
District governor, Haji Ghalib said that the newly-emerged militant group has also been operating private prisons in the district where Hafiz Saeed the region group chief was killed in a drone strike along with his senior commanders this year.
“ISIS has also taken 150 hostages recently, including tribal elders and government officials whereas Achin has been considered the main stronghold of Daesh,” he said.
Ghalib noted that the militants killed 600 innocent Afghans and taking girls forcibly for marrying.
“The ISIS terrorists have been running three prisons in Tirah valley (a border area with Pakistan),” Ghalib said.
“Recently the ISIS terrorists executed an Imam of a religious seminary in Nangarhar,” Ghalib added.
According to local government officials, the incident took place in Achin district and the victim was a madrassa teacher originally from Pakistan’s Swat valley.
The main motive behind the killing of the Mullah Imam has not been ascertained so far whereas at the same time the loyalists of this international terror group have executed numerous people besides dozens of others are kept in their private prisons.
Ghalib also said the family members of the victim were forced to leave their home after he was shot dead.
