AT-KABUL: The Islamic State, also popular as Daesh, on Sunday claimed attack on Pakistani paramilitary forces’ checkpoint in Bajaur Agency.
The group which has vowed to erase the Durand Line as it did in Syria and Iraq, told Afghanistan Times that its fighters attacked the Frontier Corps (FC), Pakistan’s paramilitary force, check-post in Damadola area of Bajaur.
In a media statement, the group said the check-post was burnt and razed to the ground on late Saturday.
“Islamic State do[es] not recognize Durand line and it’s our 5th attack on Pakistani forces from inside Kunar,” the group’s spokesman Abu Talut said.
Several factions of the Pakistani Taliban and Afghan militant leaders have joined Daesh. Power of the group is growing with each passing day. The Islamic State is becoming more popular compared to the Taliban as several Taliban fighters have pledged allegiance to Daesh.
It is said that the group would soon announce its new leader in the region and wage full-scale war against the controversial Taliban’s supreme leader Mullah Mansoor. Though, Abu Talut has not elaborated the group’s stance in this regard but hinted that Daesh would soon give “news” to its followers.
“In next few weeks some great news are coming…. have patience,” he tweeted.
