AT-KABUL: Prisoners have killed three policemen and wounded five others in northern Jawzjan province, said the provincial police chief.
Faqir Muhammad Jawzjani said a delegation was visiting the prison when the riots erupted.
He added that three policemen and a prisoner were killed during the riots.
Jawzjani said that the prisoners thought that the delegation was taking them to Pol-e-Charkhi prison in Kabul. “Thus, the inmates infuriated and killed three policemen,” he added. He said that enraged prisoners set a policeman on fire. Ten prisoners were wounded during the clashes.
This incident came just a day after that three people were killed in clashes between prisoners and policemen in southern Nimroz province.
