AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have regained the control of Janikhel district of eastern Paktia province, military officials said on Friday.
During the offensive against Taliban militants, the Afghan National Army was supported by Commando Unit which kicked off early on Friday morning, the Thunder Corps Commander Major Gen. Abdul Wase Milad, quoted by TOLO News, as saying.
Military sources said that Taliban militants during the operation have received heavy casualties on their part.
The Janikhel district was fallen to Taliban’s hands late last month which is situated at a distance of 150 kilometers to the west of the provincial capital Gardez City. The said district has very much geographic importance as it shares a border with Kurram Agency and its capital city, Parachinar across the Durand Line, the unauthorized line between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
