Kabul: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan announced Japan’s aid of 1.3 million dollars for women in Helmand.
This announcement states that this money will be spent to strengthen maternity and gynecological services for pregnant women and babies in this southern province of Afghanistan.
Based on this announcement, this new financial aid is allocated to continue the activity of 29 shelters or health centers in Helmand. These health centers help to provide maternity health services for women and children in case of emergency.
In addition to services for pregnant women, these centers also provide psychological and social counseling for young people.
In total, Japan’s aid in 2022 with this new financial aid to the United Nations Community Fund in Afghanistan will reach 2.2 million dollars.
This aid is part of the United Nations Population Fund’s humanitarian emergency response program for 9.28 million vulnerable people in Afghanistan.
In this announcement, it is stated that in 2022, more than twenty thousand people in Afghanistan, most of whom were women, will be covered by health services with the help of Japan’s aid to the United Nations Community Fund.
