Joint military drills kill 19 insurgents

AT News Report-KABUL: At least19militants were killed and18others woundedinmultiple extensive military crackdownswithin past 24 hours.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defensesaid thatthe army in collaboration with the policeand National Directorate of Security personalconducted joint operations against insurgents in different areasNangarhar, Kapisa, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Urzgan, Heart, Farah, Ghor, Balkh, Faryab, Baghlan and Helmand provinces.

Statement said that in these operations19insurgentswere killed and 18others wounded.Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, four Taliban fighters including a local commander named Abdul Haleem and five others were wounded in Zurmat district of Paktia, four insurgents were killed, four wounded, 12 stronghold belonged to the enemy destroyed and 14 mines discovered and seized in Grishk and Sangeen districts of Helmand, four rebels were killed and two others wounded in KhasUrzgan district of Urzgan, three militants were killed and six others wounded in Chamtal district of Balkh province.

Similar, two armed insurgents were killed in Doshi district of Baghlan, one militant killed and another wounded in Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak and one Daesh fighters killed in Nazain district of Nangarhar province.

In past 24 hours,18planed clearing operations,and 68 Special Forcesoperations conducted in 13provinces; also, Air forces conducted 38aerial operations supporting Afghan National army includingsevenstrikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANAdiscovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
