AT-KABUL: Afghanistan and China signed three cooperation agreements here on Tuesday.
The agreements were signed during Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao’s visit to Kabul in the fields of security, construction and education
President Ashraf Ghani while talking to a joint press conference with Yuanchao appreciated China’s support for Afghanistan. He said that the first agreement was about installation of scanners in Kabul’s gates to improve security of the city. “The second agreement was about construction of 10,000 residential plots, which will be given to security officers and heirs of martyrs and the third agreement is about 50 scholarships to Afghan students,” he added. The 50 scholarships are in addition to the 3,000 scholarships pledged last year.
Li Yuanchao expressed his pleasure over signing of the agreements and said that China wants to play an important role in the peace process of Afghanistan.
