Kabul, Moscow discuss peace efforts, bilateral relations

AT-KABUL: Top leadership within the National Unity Government and Russia’s key envoy to Afghanistan discussed several issues including prospective over peace efforts, and bilateral relations.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday met with Russian Ambassador to Kabul Alexander Mantytskiy, where both sides discussed bilateral relations, security cooperation and peace efforts in Afghanistan.

“We had frank discussions,” Abdullah wrote in his twitter account.

This came in the wake of two-day meeting started from Tuesday, between Afghan politicians and Taliban representatives in Moscow—a peace talks that seriously has been opposed by Kabul administration.

Around 40 Afghan politicians, representatives of political parties and 10-member of Taliban delegation kicked of talks, what has seemingly appeared—an intra-Afghan dialogue for the first time between them who severely fought each others before US’s military mission to be kicked off in Afghanistan in 2001.
