Kabul: Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, emphasized the critical importance of girls’ education in Afghanistan, noting that it remains a pivotal issue, particularly under the Taliban regime where female rights are severely restricted. During a conversation with Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s ambassador and special representative, Karzai underscored the significance of ensuring girls’ access to education.
Despite discussions surrounding education and regional stability, Afghanistan continues to face significant challenges in upholding women’s rights. Women encounter formidable obstacles beyond the sixth grade, hindering their pursuit of higher education and personal growth opportunities. Additionally, stringent regulations impede women’s participation in the workforce, limiting their financial independence and societal engagement. These restrictions not only obstruct Afghanistan’s progress towards inclusivity and equity but also perpetuate gender disparities.
Furthermore, Afghanistan grapples with increasing limitations on freedom of expression and access to independent media, which obstruct the dissemination of diverse perspectives and crucial information.
