KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned Wednesday’s attack on the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF).
Around 13 people were killed and 44 others were injured in the terror attack on the university.
In a statement issued by the ex-president’s media office, Karzai said the attack was carried out by anti-education elements.
While condemning the attack as an “inhuman” act, the former president said that by attacking educational institutes the enemies of the country want to scare the students and keep them away from schools and universities.
Anti-Afghanistan forces see educated youth as a serious threat. They are hell-bent on keeping young Afghans away from education centers.
Karzai said that young Afghans are standing fast to pursue their studies and play their role in development of the country.
He offered his condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family, and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
