AT-KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai on Saturday condemned in the strongest possible terms the Daesh terrorist attack against the Shiite pilgrims in Iraq, in which nearly 100 were killed and scores of others injured.
A truck bomb Thursday ripped through a gas station, where buses packed with Shiite pilgrims returning from the Arbaeen commemoration in the Iraqi city of Karbala, were parked.
Most of the victims were Iranian nationals.
Karzai termed the attack as an “inhumane act”, saying: “It is an act contrary to all principles and values of the Islamic teachings and also far from humanity.”
He added that the crimes of Daesh terrorist group reveals that the group is a project in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere came to power to defame Islam and sow discord among Muslims.
Karzai offered his deepest condolence to the families of the victims, wishing paradise for the martyrs and rapid recovery to the wounded.
